4 Juli 2011, Jakarta (Kontan): PT Dirgantara Indonesia bakal mengembangkan dua helikopter baru untuk menggantikan NBO 105 yang produksinya bakal berakhir tahun ini. Pengembangan dua jenis helikopter itu merupakan hasil kerjasama dengan perusahaan asal Eropa, Eurocopter.

Juru bicara PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Rakhendi Triyatna mengatakan dua helikopter yang akan diproduksi masih sejenis dengan helikopter NBO 105. Kedua jenis helikopter yang akan diproduksi adalah Fennec dan Ecuirrel. “Kami sudah menandatangani kerjasama lanjutan dengan Eurocopter minggu lalu,” kata Rakhendi, Senin (4/7).

Armed trainers to help Philippines rebuild fighter capability

The Philippines plans to acquire six advanced jet trainers that can also serve in the air-to-air and ground attack roles.

Defence secretary Voltaire Gazmin outlined the requirement during a press conference with local journalists on the occasion of the Philippine air force's 64th anniversary. He said the Korea Aerospace Industries/Lockheed Martin T/A-50 Golden Eagle and Alenia Aermacchi M-346 were possible candidates.

Eurocopter renews Indonesia partnership

Eurocopter and Indonesia's PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) have renewed their partnership agreement for another five years.

The companies are renewing their relationship to aid the sale of Eurocopter helicopters in Indonesia, said Henri Stell, Eurocopter vice president sales and customer relations Asia Pacific. The agreement was signed during a visit by French prime minister François Fillon to the Southeast Asian nation.

Russia to start supplying submarines in Vietnam in 2014

Russia will start supplying Kilo class diesel submarines to Vietnam in 2014, a representative of state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said on Friday.

The submarines are equipped with "Club-S cruise missile systems," Oleg Azizov said. Russia and Vietnam signed a $3.2-billion contract on the delivery of submarines in December 2009 during the visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Russia. This is the largest deal in the history of Russian exports of naval equipment.

US hesitates on Philippine arms

MANILA - Doubts are swirling in the Philippines over whether the United States will live up to its promise to provide its military with the weaponry and equipment needed to stand up to China's aggressions in the South China Sea. The concerns arise as the two sides launch their annual joint naval exercises, held this year near the contested Spratly Islands.

The 11-day exercises, known as Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT), commenced earlier this week and trainings will cover maritime interdiction, patrol operations and gunnery exercises. Philippine Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario told reporters that the US also vowed to extend intelligence assistance to the Philippine navy for areas in the South China Sea.

1.243 Prajurit TNI Disiapkan ke Lebanon

Sebanyak 1.243 prajurit TNI disiapkan untuk bergabung dengan misi perdamaian PBB di Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Ke-1.243 prajurit TNI itu memasuki masa pratugas di Pusat Pendidikan Infanteri Cipatat Bandung sejak Kamis hingga satu bulan kedepan.
